A 23-year-old Kansas woman was suspicious and feared her ex-boyfriend, Tyler Bergkamp, 25, was hiding somewhere inside her home. The woman called the police to her house after finding the front door chained from the inside. When the police got there they searched, but didn’t find anybody in the house. It wasn’t till 11:30 p.m. that same evening when Salina and her new boyfriend heard a loud noise — and then heard shouting in the living room and found her ex boyfriend’s legs hanging partly from the living room ceiling. Her ex had been hiding up in the attic. Salina’s current boyfriend pulled Tyler’s leg through the ceiling. Tyler had a large knife and sheath and he then got into a fight with the woman’s new boyfriend while threatening to kill him. Three children were at home at the time of the incident and were not harmed. Bergkamp was arrested and charged with stalking, criminal damage to property, aggravated burglary and possession of methamphetamine. But he wasn’t done.
Bergkamp had been receiving treatment for injuries received from falling through the ceiling when he walked out of the hospital and disappeared. Police searched the area all morning but couldn’t find him. At about 4 pm a woman reported to police that she found a hospital gown on her bed in her home, and some clothing had been stolen. Then 2 hours later that same day, police responded to a medical emergency involving Bergkamp. He was taken to the hospital and later booked into jail. He was found wearing a pair of Nike tennis shoes and a Nike T-shirt, both which belonged to the woman who found the hospital gown on her bed.
