Hon. Adeyemi Harrison, Member, Ogun House of Assembly, has backed former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter advising President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection.

Harrison, who spoke to Saga Gist in Abeokuta on Tuesday, said that president Buhari should consider his health status, saying that he should not listen to people who wanted him to go for second term.

He advised the President not to neglect Obasanjo’s advise, saying that all that the former president wrote in his 18 page statement was not meant to destabilise the government or the All Progressives Congress (APC), but for government to make adjustments.

“The statement by Obasanjo will rescue APC and Nigeria at large.

“President Buhari has told us during electioneering campaign that we should vote for him to do at least one term, so, I don’t know why he wants to seek reelection.

” About 80 per cent of Nigerians believes he is not fit to be the President again, so, those advising the President to seek reelection in 2019 are doing so for their own selfish interests.

“I think the President should go and relax after the expiration of his four years and I am sure that if the APC produced a credible candidate in the 2019 general elections, we are still going to win, ” he said.

The lawmaker, however, explained that Nigerians should give the President all necessary support throughout his remaining days in office.
